Off to one side of the house is a 72 cage Bio Secure rabbit house. Each cage is elevated, spacious and provided water via a central distribution system. The rabbit house is naturally aspirated and designed to be utilized in all four seasons. Historically the owners have raised rabbits for the high end restaurant scene of Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard. They have conservatively been able to raise, dress and sell up to 1.5 tons of healthy rabbit meat per year. The rabbits have been processed in the adjoining FDA Compliant Micro-Processing Building.
The Processing Building is a modest structure that is spotless inside with everything necessary. The farm has been approved by local health officials as a Family Farm Operation and thus exempt from so many of the burdensome regulations and oversight of a larger operation. The building has its own 200 amp service. Upon purchase, the client list of buyers for the rabbit meat will convey.
Down below the house inside its own fenced and shaded area is the goat barn and a small barn. There are five stalls plus room for one horse. A loafing shed is adjacent for the goats to rest and a breeding hut is nearby. The building has 110 amp service, LED lighting and of course its own frost free water spigot. Through the years, the owners have raised Boer and Kiko goats for meat/breeding and stock. The goats rotate their time in the wooded fenced enclosure and approximately five acres of lower open pasture.
The pasture down below is fully cross fenced so that goats, cows or whatever livestock is present can be rotated. Again, the entire area is fenced with five strands of high tensile electric fencing with 6,000 volts. That will even stop a bull in his tracks. Down in the bottom is a small creek running through the fields. You’ll also find another goat shed/well house in the pasture. This one has another well that is approximately 420′ deep and classified as an “agricultural well”. There is also 200 amp service to this building, although this well is also solar powered. (Again, this property shows its preparedness via the redundant systems.) It is tied into several thousand linear feet of buried waterline around the fence lines of the pasture. Strategically placed approximately every 80′ or so, you’ll find an easily accessible “quick connect” port wherein an irrigation spigot can be inserted. This ensures watering of all the fields as livestock are rotated.
Just beyond the fenced areas are approximately five acres of gently laying woodlands. This area has been used in the past for hogs, although it has a myriad of uses. There is a rudimentary shooting range in the woods and a very substantial creek running through the woods down toward the pasture. On the other side of the property is a much larger creek approximately 100′ below the house. This creek provides a naturally secure barrier to entry as well as another water source and possibly micro-hydroelectric service.
Lets talk about security.
The owner operates a communications company and has redundant systems for just about everything. Multiple wells. Multiple heating sources. Multiple power sources. Multiple cameras, etc. The entire farm is fenced. If one should stumble upon the entrance, that person will find themselves at an electronic remotely operated gate. Motion activated sensors and cameras alert the owner to the visitor, even if the owner isn’t home. Throughout the property you’ll find approximately eleven remotely operated, night vision capable cameras. These cameras are controlled from the home office where multiple computer screens allow the viewing of multiple cameras at one time. Best of all, this system (sensors, cameras, monitors and all) convey with the real estate.
The communications are via cable service, however, in the event the cable goes down, the entire system will automatically switch to a satellite service within 30 seconds. A firewall has been installed to protect all the electronics. The owner/seller has offered to provide in depth training to a new owner to ensure the new owner gets full benefit of all the systems.
