This WNC camp retreat center is ideal for numerous uses including that of a summer camp, conference center, retreat center, or multi-family homestead. Located just south of Hendersonville, NC adjoining hundreds of acres of North Carolina game lands, this 20 acre property lives a lot larger than it feels. The property is convenient to Hendersonville yet completely tucked away on a rolling farm with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
On the 20 acres you’ll find a very well maintained grouping of structures perfect for outdoor living and group events. There are two well appointed, comfortable single family homes; four camper cabins; a well built bath house; very large multi-purpose building with a four bay garage, a large open air meeting pavilion with stage; a one bedroom guest cabin; two heavy vinyl covered Quonset type buildings, and several ancillary supporting building for equipment storage, grounds maintenance and workshop. In addition to these buildings, you’ll find a well designed paintball field and a multi-station fitness and ropes course along with a covered pistol range. A small spring fed pond rounds out the recreational offerings and includes a floating dock and water slide. Click here for a full video of the property.
The four cabins can comfortably sleep 20 to 22 persons in bunk bed configurations. Two of them are insulated and heated and cooled, while the other two are best for seasonal occupancy. It wouldn’t take much to make these two suitable for year round use. The central bath house provides multiple 6 showers and toilet facilities for men and women. “The Loft” which is the multi-purpose building features a four bay garage on the lower level of which two bays are presently configured for dry storage and featuring a commercial grade refrigerator. The upper level features the camp office and a large recreation room. Adjacent to this is the “Eatin Place” which as the name implies is where groups take their meals. There isn’t a commercial kitchen on the grounds, so food preparation is done via catering or by using the kitchens in the two single family homes. However, there is ample room to have a commercial kitchen installed.
The Main Owner’s House features three bedrooms with two and one half baths. It is a very well built and updated two story house with large passive solar sunroom. A wood stove provides additional supplemental heat to the central HVAC system. Click here for an immersive 3D interior tour of the house. Sitting up on a knoll overlooking the camp and mountains is the second house which is a sprawling three bedroom two and one half bath modular home over a full basement. The basement level offers both heated and unheated office living area and workshop space. The one bedroom guest cabin is an up to date cabin overlooking the pond.
The land is exceptional. There are acres of open, gently rolling fields, some of which are fenced for livestock. There are multiple springs on the property that provide year round surface water. The remainder of the property is wooded and has been improved with a fitness trail through the woods that includes several ropes course/challenge course obstacles. Deep in the woods is a paintball field with two tower/forts in the middle to add to the experience. The pond is clear and cold, providing a welcoming respite on hot summer days. Click here for an interactive map of the property.
The property is perfectly suited for a multi-family homestead in which several families could reside on the property with plenty of space and together create a self-sustainable haven. Or it could be continued to be utilized as a camp facility hosting private groups, church groups or summer camps. It would also make for a wonderful spiritual retreat center or wellness center. The possibilities, as they say, are endless. Shown only by appointment and only serious inquiries please. Call us today to schedule your private tour.
